Suffering & Hope
Hey friends!
When you think of Thanksgiving, what comes to mind? My guess is the food, the family, and the many blessings all around you. Which makes sense. Thanksgiving is a time to naturally look at all the good things in our lives.
Here’s another question: how many of us thought about all the suffering we’ve experienced this year? We all go through hard things. How thankful are we for those times?
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak on the topic of suffering, and how suffering is the pathway that God has chosen to lead us to hope. I was able to share the story of our family’s journey through postpartum depression, and how God was good, even when life didn’t appear to be good. If you’re interested, you can check out that message HERE.**
I do not know what the holidays look like for you, but I know for a fact that the holidays can be a time of celebration and a time of mourning, and both are okay. I personally have experienced both, and know that even in the midst of the hardest seasons of my life, God is always faithful. You are seen, known, and loved. Don’t forget that.
Thanks for reading. I appreciate you.
Philip
**note: in the sermon above, I do discuss topics of suicide. If that is not something you need to hear, please skip it. You matter. I want you to know that.
